The Daily Beast Profiles Marilyn
In the wake of the attention being paid to the film Lovelace, and the resurgence of interest in porno chic, online magazine The Daily Beast today featured a thoughtful and well-written piece on "the other porn queen" Marilyn Chambers. Interesting insight from friends and family and a mention that Marilyn Chambers: My Story will be reissued this fall with a new foreward written by Marilyn's daughter.

Trailer for upcoming Linda Lovelace
biopic
While I don't believe in perpetuating the saga of
Linda Lovelace, the film Lovelace is important in
that it's bringing the Golden Age of Porn, once
again, into the spotlight. Amanda Seyfriend plays
Lovelace and Peter Sarsgaard plays Chuck Traynor.
It remains to be seen how successful the picture
will be and what, if any, message can be gleaned
from the story. It's unlikely Marilyn will play any part
in the picture, except possibly a passing mention.

Celebrating 40 Years of Marilyn Chambers & Behind the Green Door
On May 3, 1973, the New York Times reported that Marilyn
Chambers, whose picture as the smiling mother appeared on
the newly-released boxes of Ivory Snow, was "winning new
fans" as the star of an X-rated film called Behind the Green
Door. James F. Clarity featured the item in the "Notes on
People" column. The story was first picked up by a different
New York newspaper a day or two earlier, but this was the first
time Marilyn was ever mentioned in the Times. With the Ivory
Snow-Green Door scandal the world was formally introduced
to Marilyn Chambers, the first mainstream porn star, whose
15 minutes of fame turned into a successful 35-year career.

DigiDev TV Acquires Private Screenings Library; Titles Available to View On-Demand
DigiDev TV, a subscription-based on-demand
online streaming service, has acquired the Private
Screenings library and created a channel on their
site with all the PS films and specials available to
view. According to the press release, "Private
Screenings produced and owns the single largest
library of Marilyn Chambers product in the world."
Marilyn appeared in many Private Screenings films

My Favorite Porn Films: Nostalgia Edition
Actress Stacey Nelkin wrote a piece for The Huffington Post in
which she chose five of her favorite classic porn films.
Insatiable was #3. She said: "Marilyn Chambers was so damn sexy in this film and legendary porn star, John Holmes gives a can't-miss performance. Chambers showed an unusual degree of pleasure onscreen, becoming the embodiment of the movie's title. She was either a really good actress or was seriously enjoying her work. Harry Reems, 1947-2013
Harry Reems, one of porn's original superstars and co-star in the landmark adult film Deep Throat, died March 19 in Salt
Lake City after battling pancreatic cancer. He was 65. Reems
(real name: Herbert Streicher) achieved notoriety in 1972
when he starred opposite Linda Lovelace in Gerard Damiano's Deep Throat, the film that ushered in the Golden Age of pornography and launched the modern porn industry.
Damiano cast Reems in his next film The Devil In Miss Jones
in 1973. Reems was arrested in 1974 for his work in Deep
Throat -- the only actor ever to be arrested for appearing in a
film. He was indicted in 1975 on charges of conspiracy to
distribute obscenity across state lines and was convicted the
following year. His conviction was overturned in 1977.
Reems starred in over 140 adult films between 1971 and 1989, including Marilyn Chambers' Private Fantasies #4 and Marilyn Chambers' Private Fantasies #6. He left the adult film industry in 1989 and worked as a realtor in Utah until his death.
In a 2006 interview Marilyn said of Reems: "Harry was a really good guy. I worked with him one time in one of the Private Fantasies. He was a real jokester. He was nice to his wife and he was a good actor, fun to work with."
Le Bellybutton Featured in New Book on '70s Adult Musicals
Elizabeth L. Wollman, Assistant Professor of Music at Baruch
College in New York, has written an excellent book about the
history of the 1970s adult musicals in New York City called
Hard Times (Oxford University Press, $27.95). The chapter
entitled "Hell Freezes Over: The Hard Core Musical on Screen
and Stage" chronicles the histories of two films, The First
Nudie Musical and Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical
Fantasy, and Marilyn's 1976 stage revue Le Bellybutton.
Since very little has ever been written on Le Bellybutton, which
closed after only 26 performances, this is volume is
indispensable for Marilyn fans. Oxford University Press has
even set up a companion website which features song clips
and photos from nearly all of the stage musicals written about

New Book, Golden Goddesses, Features Newly Released Interview with Marilyn
Jill C. Nelson, author of A Life Measured in Inches, the first
and only biography of porn legend John C. Holmes, has
released her second book Golden Goddesses: 25 Legendary
Women of Classic Erotic Cinema, 1968-1985 (BearManor
Media, $49.95). The book features 25 interviews with some
of the most well-known and beloved actress from the golden
age of pornography, including Marilyn as well as some of the
actresses with whom she worked such as Serena, Juliet
Anderson, and Veronica Hart. It also includes interviews with
such other adult icons as Seka, Annie Sprinkle, Georgina
Spelvin, Nina Hartley and Gloria Leonard, among others.
