Haywire (1982-1985)

Marilyn Chambers performs with her country band Haywire in the film "Up 'n' Coming," 1983
"Money Can't Buy" (1983)

Featured in the film Up 'n' Coming; never officially released

The song featured most prominently in Marilyn's 1983 X-rated feature Up 'n' Coming is "Money Can't Buy." In the film Marilyn plays Cassie Harland a country singer on the rise. She threatens the popularity (and ego) of the reigning queen of country Althea Anderson (Lisa DeLeeuw), who's on a downward spiral of booze and pills. In a 2000 interview with DVDTalk.com, Marilyn claimed that she didn't like her performance in the film because she was battling pneumonia. While Marilyn's voice sounds unusually raspy throughout the film, there is no visual evidence of her being ill. If you look closely throughout the film you will see that Cassie is playing with her band called Haywire which is the name of Marilyn's real country band which played gigs in Vegas in the early-to-mid '80s.
